Hiroshi & Kanako

(Photo: Myself with the lovely new couple Hiroshi & Kana)

Today, my former apartment-mate, co-worker, and brother in Christ, Hiroshi, married Kanako. The wedding was done at Ikoma Chapel with Chris Momose as the pastor and handful of volunteers from Chapel working behind the scenes. All and all it was quite a success.

Hiroshi moved last week into their new house to do some preparation. So, it has been a bit lonely here now. However, I am so grateful for the time we had as apartment-mate and blessed to see my friend so happy as he starts his new life.

What a birthday present!

What a birthday present!

(Photo: “Ah, that's not good”... a dramatic recreation of my Monday afternoon escapade)

Wow, what a week. Monday was my birthday and I received a birthday present that I didn’t understand until this Friday how great it was. Monday afternoon, Wendy, our computer teacher, walks in looking anxious and says that all the computers are locked up. I go to the server and find “Hard Disk Failure” on the screen… Ah, not good.

Louisiana Rains

(Photo: A short break in the rain)

This beautiful scene was only a few minutes between the heaviest thunderstorms I've seen in quite some time. The weather has been like this almost everyday. It doesn't affect us to much but it does slow us down to a crawl on the interstate. Well, I guess I won't go fishing in the bayou this trip. Good thing I got my fill of fresh seafood tonight (I'll try to get photos up here later).

Elizabeth's Graduation

Elizabeth Graduation

(Photo: My neice, Elizabeth, and I celebrating after her graduation by not looking at the camera)

A big portion of my trip was to see my lovely neice, Elizabeth, graduate high school.

Isn't amazing how homogeneous those commencement ceremony speeches can be. The funny part was while the speaker was expounding how different the future will be and how much technology will affect their lives, there were the students sending text messages on their cell phones complaining how much that they just wanted the speaker to HURRY UP!

Alive and well...

Thank you for your prayers. The trip was long but I was thankful for God's grace to treat others with the kindness that I normally lack when I get very tired. Anyway, I am well rested and in South Carolina. We met up with Dad and Jan to prepare for a BBQ party for my neice tomorrow. It's been fun being with family again and a bit shocking going warehouse shopping. Is it just me or has the portion sizes gotten a lot bigger recently?

OK. hopeful I have a more interesting entry later. Again, Thank you all who are praying.

Here I go...

OK, I am sitting here counting down the hours before I start my long trip back to the States for a ten day trip. The first leg of the trip is to South Carolina to see my niece, Elizabeth, graduate High School and spend time with family. Then about the 28th, I'll be traveling to Louisiana to mainly spend time with family and (schedules premitting) a few friends.

Your prayers are always cherished. Who knows, I might be seeing some of you real soon.

As you might have read from my past post, The Doulos ship is now in port. Because of this, we have had the privelge to have a five person multi-national team visit us. It was really encouraging to talk with each of them and hear their stories.
